Default A New Desktop for Kitty

Okay, with the show your rigs chat that is on going, I really have gotten fired up about getting a new desktop. It has been three years on purely laptops and I really need a true gaming platform. While my Macbook Pro is great for my graphic arts stuff and my Sony Vaio netbook is great for classes *hugs her tiny compy* I need something with some power for gaming that doesn't require me to switch between the mac os and windows to get anything done. >.<

So here is my thoughts. I will likely be going to a shop to get this built or finding someone with greater knowledge of computers than myself to build my computer. Heavens know I know plenty about computers and could build it myself, but I don't want to risk expensive components in my amateur hands. I want any of you that is good at putting together a machine to possibly help me look for some components.

My budget? Around $1200. I get $1000 from my college loans and then I can throw about $200 of my savings in there without too much trouble. I need a good gaming computer that also could work as a graphics machine. If we can save by not getting a monitor I have a 20' flatscreen that I can use already in my possession. I'd like a new monitor as that one is kinda... weird, but meh.

(To give you a hint at my usage... when I am working on my graphics I can at times have most of the Adobe suite open, web browsers, and various other misc programs up to and including an mmo, because I suck at closing programs to conserve memory when I am eyeballs deep in a project.)

I am fine getting links for New Egg and such, I just want a machine specced out. *grins*

    Have fun.

I really don't need a bluray drive so I'd just stay with a dvd rewrite drive, and one other drive for convenience sake. With Hard drive, I really don't need anything too massive, 500gB would suit me just fine as I have three external hard drives anyways.

I don't care about the site stuff is gotten from, as long as the prices are good. I hate finding out down the line that one place really marked up on a component when I could have gotten it cheaper.

O snap im in shit now lol i could just leave the names but ill link the the product

    Mobo : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=E145-2059
    CPU : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Sku=CP1-I7-920
    Ram : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...845&CatId=4093
    Video Card : http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=...nufacture=eVGA
this Mobo can hold 3 of them cards but you will only need one
One will be able to run aion at full graphics and it runs crysis at full graphics frames will vary from 40-130FPS in aion but is self
    Power Supply : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...562&CatId=2533
this OCZ is a really good PSU got 2 of them my bos running one non stop for 3 years with no Probs what so ever the othere is in the office also running for 3 years none stop so its one i would trust the other one in my is a thermaltake one 1200w coasts 400$ so lol i would go with that ocz one
    Hard Drive :http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=...acture=Western Digital WD&promoid=1192
Go with ANY Western Digital HDD do not trust any otheres i use to use Maxtor till shitty Seagate bought them out after that i went through 6 Maxtor's in less then 3 months Seagate is even worse then the Maxtor brands the otheres are OK but i would tryst WD hands down i do A lot of things to the hdd thats had on it like every day adding and removing gigs of files like anime and such so its A lot of ware and tare but WD seems to hold up on it
    Burner Drive : http://www.ncixus.com/products/33064...20Electronics/
    Case : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...123&CatId=1842
i would still go with this case if you want a mid tower you will not run into any probs with "Will it fit" theres a vid on the case if you want to watch it there
I love my armor case my next case will be another one ^_^ but i like the full size ones the reason there not the listest is because there all made out of steel

but this is close to the one u were looking at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...430&CatId=1842 or get ahold of Thermaltake and see whos saleing the Tsunami http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Produc...C=1327&ID=1462

So thats $1060 USD not counting the rebate ont he video card of 15$

with this it leaves you lots of room for upgrades like more video cards that mobo allows crossfire also so you dont have to stay with nvidea also upgrade to 12 gigs of ram if your running a 64 bit windows that is lol

If u add in a secand video card it would be $1184 USD b4 taxes

so your comp would look like this when you read it out
    Case: Armor +MX
    Mobo:X58 LE
    CPU :I7 920
Ram :6 Giggs Tri channal DDR3
    Video Card : GTS 250 x2SLIed
    Power Supply : 700w

^_^ u deffinitly would not have any probs running any games on the market or anything for the next few years ^_^ makes me want my x58 classified board dame it lol
